Grand Bobberthon Tournament
GRAND BOBBERTHON RULES
- The Grand Bobberthon Tournament is only open to anglers that have caught and registered a tagged fish.
- One of the goals of Bobberthon is to encourage adults to take a kid fishing, so each eligible angler is encouraged to fish with a child (under age 18) during the tournament. Anglers who do not have a child that can accompany them can fish alone, but may not fish with another adult.
- If a child catches a tagged fish he must be accompanied by an adult 18 years of age or older.
- Each team (single adult or adult/child team) must fish together at all times from the bank or in a boat, and only one team per boat.
- Fishing will take place at Flat Creek PFA from 7 am to 2 pm on Saturday, June 25, 2011. Registration will begin at 7 am and fishing will commence at 7:30 am. Weigh-in will be at 2:30 pm at the Go Fish Education Center . Each team can weigh in a maximum of five bream. Tournament winners are determined by heaviest weight of their collective catch.
GRAND TOURNAMENT FAQS
- What type of fish can be weighed in at the Grand Tournament on September 25? Each team will weigh-in their 5 largest bream. Bream is a term that includes all sunfish species, except crappie (bluegill, shellcracker/redear sunfish, redbreast sunfish, etc.).
- Do I have to fish with a minor at the Grand Tournament or could I fish by myself? A major goal of the tournament is to encourage adults and children (under age 18) to have fun fishing together, but an adult can fish alone if he/she cannot find a child to fish with. Two adults may not fish together.
- How old does a child have to be to fish on their own during the Grand Tournament? 18 years of age or older.
- If I register and my child registers and we both catch tagged fish, can we fish together at the Grand Tournament? Yes, but you would be considered one team. A suggestion might be to find a different partner for yourself and your child so that you can fish as 2 teams.
- Will I receive notification of my automatic registration in the Grand Tournament? Yes. You will be notified that you have been automatically registered in the tournament. You will also be given details as to date, time, and official rules of the Grand Tournament.
- Is the Grand Tournament only at Flat Creek Public Fishing Area? Yes.
- Who will be at the Grand Tournament to determine what fish are eligible for weigh-in? Georgia DNR/Wildlife Resources Division Fisheries staff will conduct the weigh-in.
- I can’t participate in the Grand Tournament – do I still get a prize? Every registered angler that caught a tagged fish is eligible for a prize. In order to collect that prize, the angler (or his designee) must be present at the prize ceremony on June 25th.
- How many prizes will be given away at the Grand Tournament? The 5 teams with the 5 heaviest stringers of bream from the Tournament will win one of 5 Grand prizes (heaviest stringer gets 1st place, next heaviest 2nd place, etc.). Additionally, all anglers that caught a tagged fish during Bobberthon (regardless if they participated in the Grand Tournament) will receive a prize. Anglers (or their designee) must be present at the prize ceremony. There is an exciting additional prize opportunity (worth $2,000) that will occur during the Grand Tournament!
