Mr. Puckett - so sorry for such a late reply! The registration period for the Bobberthon was over as of 9/11/10 and our tournament was on 9/25. But don't despair! We are working on information to present to Dept of Economic Development in the hopes of getting another grant to support a similar event in 2011. So glad you enjoy the fishing areas - they are meant for Georgia citizens, so it is great to hear that you are having a great time on the water.

I just started fishing at the 2 local PFA ponds, Dodge and Bleckley/Pulaski. I was not aware that I needed to register for the Bobberthon. As of this week, I caught a tagged fish. Is it too late to register and if not, where can I register at? My wife and I both recently retired and recently fished at the Bleckley/Pulaski pond this week. It's a beautiful area with convenient parking as well as adequate shade trees for fishing and relaxing. We were really impressed with this fishing area.

My daughter and I love the bobberthon! She has always loved fishing since I can remember and now I love it too. In fact my son and husband and two of our children's friends registered and fished several times too but only we were able to bag the tagged fish. We always fish Ocmulgee, sometimes as many as 2 times a week and decided to go out to Dodge on Friday morning to check it out before the big day. We were skunked big time. We didn't even get a hit! We tried several places, the dock, the bank up and down and nothing, nada, zip. I hope the fish come out at Dodge on the 25th like they always do at Ocmulgee::) My daughter who is 11, is really looking forward to the event. Thanks so much. Kim H.

Loving that you are being told to go fishing - that is great - maybe you can take someone with you too!

Sorry the vendor was confused on your tag. You are right, you should have a blue form as your "return tag" form - do you still have a copy of your original (white) registration form? If so, I can issue you a blue form from here if you can send the tag to me. Also, can you tell me who the vendor was so I can have a local rep go by and talk to them to make sure they have everything they need so that it does not happen again. This is all a little new for many of the vendors - and with this being the first year, we are all on a learning curve! Reply to me at melissa.cummings@dnr.state.ga.us - thanks!

I love the bobberthon. Not because I caught a tagged fish, but because for the first time after 23-years of marriage my wife is telling me to go fishing.

One note, the vendor I registered through didn't know anything about keeping the tag. I still have it at home because all they wanted was the number from the tag. They wrote the number on the back of my registration form and didn't give me anything to prove I turned one in. I read in the FAQ they were suppose to give my a blue form - so I went back and asked. They didn't know anything about a blue form - all they had was the white registration forms.

Lisa - thanks for your email. Schley is not too far to come participate - you don't have to be from the county/community in order to participate. Come on over, register at one of the local vendors and get to fishing! We would love to have you. As far as helping, you can spread the word to friends/family about participating. We just have a few short weeks to go for people to catch a tagged fish, and we would love to have as many people participate as possible. Thanks so much - and happy fishing to you and your family.
