Georgia Bobberthon
Bobberthon is an exciting regional fishing tournament during which anglers fish for tagged bream at specific state-managed public fishing areas. This event is open to everyone (fishing licenses are required-purchase one here). The 2011 event will take place beginning April 16, 2011 and run through June 11, 2011. A grand tournament will take place on June 25, 2011.
Interested anglers must register at an official merchant between now and June 11, 2011 to participate. Once registered, anglers should GO FISH at any of 4 local public fishing area lakes (Dodge County, Ocmulgee , Hugh Gillis and Flat Creek) and try to catch a tagged bream. If an angler catches a tagged fish, they need to go to any official registration merchant to register the tag number. Anglers can register more than one tagged fish. All registered anglers that catch a tagged fish will receive a prize AND can take part in the Grand Bobberthon Tournament on June 25, 2011 at Flat Creek to try and capture one of the five grand prizes!
Who Organized Bobberthon?
This event is a collaborative effort between the Georgia Department of Natural Resources/Wildlife Resources Division, Georgia Department of Economic Development , five local communities (Bleckley, Houston, Dodge, Laurens and Pulaski) and the generous help of State Representative Jimmy Pruett.
