Georgia Bobberthon
Bobberthon is an exciting regional fishing tournament during which anglers can win prizes for catching tagged bream at specific state-managed public fishing areas.
This event is open to everyone (fishing licenses are required-purchase one here). The 2012 event will take place beginning April 1, 2012 and run through October 1 2012.
There is no pre-registration needed. Interested anglers can GO FISH at any of four local public fishing area lakes (Dodge County, Ocmulgee , Hugh Gillis and Flat Creek) and try to catch a tagged bream.
If an angler catches a tagged fish, they can visit the Go Fish Education Center in Perry, Ga to return the tag and claim a prize and receive one FREE admission to the Center. All anglers catching a tagged fish will be eligible for one of four grand prizes at the end of Bobberthon.
There will NOT be a Grand Tournament this year (as there has for the past two Bobberthon events), but organizers may plan one for future years.
Who Organizes Bobberthon?
This event is a collaborative effort between five local communities (Bleckley, Houston, Dodge, Laurens and Pulaski), with additional support from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources/Wildlife Resources Division and Georgia Department of Economic Development and the generous help of State Representative Jimmy Pruett.
